Simply that - manure. This manure has been air-dried, partially composted, sifted, ground, hand screened with much of the field debris (straw, pebbles and or dirt) removed by hand, and then packaged as "The End Result". Each $6 bag of ~2 lb of crushed beans uniquely contains "the end result" of what has happened to the bermuda grass hay that has been eaten/processed by the camelid's three stomachs.
The N-P-K values of this product are less than that of off-the-shelf fertilizers, but its lower organic content makes it gentler (no burning) on plants. Nutrients are slow to release and it is non-toxic. The manure helps with water retention and rejuvenates potting soil. Further, it is odorless and has no chemical additives. It is quite natural.
This particular product is recommended for indoor house plant use. We have used it and have noticed positive results in our home.
A Word About Our Pastures
Our pastures are maintained as chemical-free bermuda grass and kept weed-free (as much as is possible) as a result of relentless mowing and an intensive pasture maintenance routine (a must to keep the alpaca's fleece clean and sticker-free). We submit soil samples annually to the OSU Extention for analysis, and generally fertilize with nitrogen 2-3 times a year to help maintain healthy stands of bermuda pasture grass for our animals. Alpacas are grazers, supplemented with mineral pellets to maintain good health and fiber, and fed high-protein hay/alfalfa from nearby farms during the winter months..
nb: larger quantities of alpaca beans (dried whole beans) are available for your own fall gardening needs. These "piles" of manure-beans are at various levels of decomposition / composting. Please call for availability.
$ 5 / "feed" bag of raw beans (you fill the bag)
$10 / ~ 50# bag of raw beans (we fill it)
$20 / front loader of raw beans (we load it)
...AND ... returned empty alpaca feed bags can be refilled (by you) for only $2/bag (please call ahead for availability).
